Come Join AHG Troop 1911! By Gabrielle Brengman
American Heritage Girls (AHG) is a Christian scouting organization that focuses on faith, service, and fun! Founded in 1995, AHG was created for girls who want to grow in leadership, develop new skills, and serve their communities—all while deepening their relationship with God. The organization also emphasizes purity, service, stewardship, and integrity.
AHG is open to girls ages 5-18 and is built around faith, leadership, citizenship, social development, outdoor skills, and teamwork. Members earn badges by completing different activities, similar to other scouting groups. These can include things like camping, first aid, cooking, and even career exploration. The girls are divided into units (of which there are five) by age.
My personal experience with AHG has been awesome. I joined when I was 5 years old as a Pathfinder, which is the youngest unit. I’m now 14 and leveling up to the final unit, Patriots. My favorite thing about AHG is most likely summer camp. We complete badges, play games, sing songs, hang out, and learn more about God and applying your faith to your life. Of course, we also have badge meetings during the school year, as well as service projects and lock-ins. AHG is a great place to make friends with similar values to you. It is also a good source for influential mentors.
If you think you think American Heritage Girls would be a good fit for your family, Troop 1911 (located at Georgetown Christian Church) meets on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:00 P.M.
